Frequently Asked Questions

  • Counselling and therapy costs vary depending on the practitioner, and I try to keep my costs low. My standard rates as of January 2025 are outlined below:

    20-minute phone consultation: Free

    Individual counselling sessions: $175.00 / 50 minutes | $262.50 / 75 minutes

    Couples/relationship counselling sessions: $262.50 / 75 minutes | $350.00 / 100 minutes

I prefer to receive payment by Interac e-transfer, but I can also process major credit card payments through the Jane App. Payment must be provided at the beginning of every session.

  • I recognize everyone has different expectations and hopes for counselling, so I'm happy to offer a free 20-minute consultation - no strings attached. Most people use this time as a way of establishing a sense of how we will work together. This may include pre-planned questions, while others prefer to simply have a conversation and see how it feels. I'd encourage you to have some sense of what you're looking for in a counsellor and what you hope to get out of therapy, so we can discuss this during your consult.

  • I offer online and phone therapy services for clients located throughout British Columbia and in Nova Scotia. If you are located outside of either of these provinces, you may be able to access my services, but this depends on your provincial regulations. Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss your situation specifically.

I'm temporarily/currently residing in Nova Scotia, so my in-person services are currently on-hold for Victoria, but you are welcome to contact me to be added to my waitlist or to discuss virtual options. I'm also taking on new virtual clients for Nova Scotia with a start date of January 2025, and hope to offer in-person appointments in the Dartmouth/Halifax area soon.

  • Many extended health providers will pay a portion or all of your visit fee for counselling. However, every plan is different, so I recommend checking with your health care provider in advance to confirm your coverage before beginning therapy.

I do not direct bill to extended health insurance plans, but I will provide you with a detailed receipt after every appointment, which you can then submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

  • All of the information disclosed in our sessions will be kept confidential, with the following exceptions:

    (i) Risk of Harm (to self or others):

    (ii) Child Abuse or Neglect

    (iii) Court Order

(iv) Clinical Consultation (Occasionally with my supervisor in order to provide you the best possible service)

I'm very willing to talk about these exceptions to confidentiality, and in as many cases as possible will be transparent with you about my process and duty to report.
